Ashwagandha Chocolate Goodness (Paleo, GF, Nut Free)


⅓ cup organic tahini

¼ cup organic sunflower butter ( or nut butter of your choice)

¼ organic maple syrup + 2 TBSP organic local honey (you can sweetener of your choice)

¼ cup organic cocoa powder

2 TBSP organic ashwagandha powder

2TBSP organic hemp seeds

1 tsp organic cinnamon powder

½ teaspoon organic ginger powder

1 tsp organic cardamom powder

1 TBSP organic hemp seeds

1 tsp organic nutmeg powder

½ teaspoon organic vanilla extract


Organic cocoa nibs

Organic unsweetened coconut flakes


  1. Add tahini, sunflower butter and sweetener to a small saucepan and heat on low and stir until all are well blended, be sure not to let it boil

  2. Add herb powders and mix until well combined

  3. Mix in vanilla and hemp seeds

  4. Mix in cocoa powder. Add in more as needed until dough is thick enough to hold its shape

  5. Once the dough is thick enough and doesn’t stick to the sides of the bowl, roll it into 1 inch balls

  6. If desire toppings, roll the balls in cocoa nibs or coconut flakes and get ready to have your tastebuds sing!

What makes this recipe so fun is that you can modify the recipe and substitute your favorite toppings, nut butters and adjust the herbs to your taste preference. You can also use all honey or all maple syrup or other sweetener. I personally don’t love the aftertaste of honey but do appreciate the benefits and the viscosity to help keep the other ingredients together. Want to amp up your chocolate experience? You can chop up some organic dark chocolate to boost up your antioxidants and taste profile! Store them in an airtight container in your fridge for up to a week or pop them in your freezer.
