I was traveling this past week and I’ll start by saying it was truly a life changing experience. One of those times, where you know, without a doubt, that there is a shift in your consciousness and in your being that is undeniable. Have you had ever had that feeling?
I’ll be honest, for the past few months I’ve been feeling uneasy, unsettled, uncertain and well...at times unhappy.
Because, I wasn’t being honest with myself….despite sharing healthful information with all of you and trying to inspire you to be true to your vision for yourself and acknowledge your power and greatness, I was consciously and subconsciously suffocating mine.
Even though I have spent years deconstructing the habits and thoughts that weren’t serving my health and happiness…..the pieces and remnants are still hanging around and the past few months they’ve been trying to piece themselves back together. Just like when my melanoma reared its ugly head….my body, my mind, my spirit had been shouting at me that I was out of alignment with my passion and purpose but I was totally deaf to it…..
Until this week... at this event…..I.heard.myself! FINALLY!
And in the coming months, as I begin to fully step back into my vision, my mission and my purpose, I will be sharing the journey with you….because YOU are a huge part of my WHY.
One of the biggest AHA moments contributing to my going off the rails was I realized I had let my morning routine go by the wayside. And by wayside….I mean off the cliff ⛰
Do you have a morning routine?
When I start my days with a few simple steps, the positive shift in my outlook and my energy is palpable. That’s why I’m committed to getting back on track. I share these, with hopes that you experience the same.
1. Create: Before getting out of bed in the morning, with my eyes still closed, I decide the 3 emotions I want to experience that day. For example, my favs are calm, inspired and loving. Setting my intention for how I want to feel enables me to navigate the choices I make throughout the day to help me create and experience those emotions. (i.e. scrolling through social media seeing everyone’s highlight "real" ain’t gonna keep me calm or inspired...it’s going send me right to anxiety and overwhelm.) Tip: Write these on post-it notes and plaster them all over the places you spend the most time.
2. Celebrate: As a fickle journalist...sometimes I love to journal, other times not so much - so in order to create consistency and make it as easy as possible I found I could commit to at least 5 minutes a day to acknowledge all the good in my life without having to write a novel (although I could write one, I have so much for which to be thankful). That’s why I’m a huge fan of the 5 Minute Journal.
3. Cultivate: The definition of cultivate is to nurture and help grow. To ensure I experience the emotions I want to create, I need to set myself up for success in how I nourish myself beyond just food (though having fun in the kitchen creating recipes definitely creates calm and inspiration for me🤩). That said, I can’t always dive into culinary creation mode first thing in the morning, so the next best thing is arming myself with nutrients that instantly calm me down like those found in Designs For Health Neurocalm. It’s designed to help promote activity of neurotransmitters GABA and serotonin, which help support healthy mood, cravings, and feelings of calm, satiety, and satisfaction. Right now their liposomal version for instant bioavailability has been a game changer for me.
Cheers to starting your day on a positive note!
